Simply Classical Curriculum: Levels 5 & 6 One-Year Pace

Simply Classical Curriculum Levels 5 & 6: Grammar, Greece, & Gratitude is designed for students with ability or ages 10-12, and can be taught at a Two-Year Standard or One-Year Accelerated pace.

Students learn vocabulary, grammar, outlining, and composition through familiar classical children’s literature. They embark on new enrichment studies in Creating Art and Music Appreciation. Students practice cursive writing through lessons in manners and reflective gratitude.

In Levels 5 & 6 you will teach Greek Myths, Latina Christiana, Christian Studies and more. Science includes hygiene, nutrition, and natural science, with lessons and experiments. In true classical form, Simply Classical Levels 5 & 6: Grammar, Greece, and Gratitude will help students learn Latin and begin to make connections across all studies.

Simply Classical Curriculum: Level 4

Simply Classical Curriculum Level 4 has been carefully adapted for students with special learning needs from the curriculum taught at the acclaimed Highlands Latin School. Level 4 is designed for implementation over a few concentrated hours 4-5 days per week. You may adapt for your situation. By Level 4 students possess reasonably strong writing, reading, and arithmetic skills. They now begin grammar-level studies of mammals, multiplication, and mythology. They also read classic children’s literature, practice drawing, hear classic poetry and classical music, specifically Mozart. They continue honing knowledge of spelling and phonics, arithmetic, grammar, and composition. Perhaps most exciting of all, in Level 4 the student begins his daily study of simplified, introductory Latin to enhance his understanding of and competence with language. All of his studies are informed by God’s Holy Word, as students learn passages by heart in accord with the historic Church Year.

Simply Classical Curriculum: Level 3

Literature, Latin, & Liberty
for approximate skill levels or chronological ages 7-9, or for older children with special needs who are building reading and writing skills

In this level, the student grows in literary analysis, reading, grammar, and composition skills while learning about American history and embarking on the study of Latin. He receives instruction in Christian studies, science, art, and music. He practices memory work, penmanship, and oral reading fluency.

Simply Classical Curriculum: Level 2

Comprehension, Calculations, & Character
for approximate skill level or chronological ages 6-8, or for older children with special needs who are already beginning readers

In this level, the student grows steadily in reading comprehension, arithmetic, and the cultivation of character. With intensive phonics, he hones skills for reading and spelling. He also receives practice with reading fluency through carefully selected stories.

Simply Classical Curriculum: Level 1

In Level 1, your child becomes a student. With consideration for his special needs, he receives tactile/sensory and movement/kinesthetic activities to aid learning and memory in reading, writing, and arithmetic. He embarks on observational nature study and classification with My Nature Journal. With proven methods in the classical tradition, he engages in Simply Classical Copybook and recitation exercises to strengthen language abilities, memory, and knowledge.

Simply Classical Curriculum: Level C

Designed for children with a chronological age or skill level of 4-5, Level C presumes an acquaintance with letters, numbers, books, listening, and learning. Level C helps you strengthen your child’s readiness skills with an integrated emphasis on animals and the alphabet. Lessons include traditional games and songs, stories, recitations, oral language exercises, number concepts, fine-motor activities, biblical literacy, and poetry.

Simply Classical Curriculum: Level B

Level B emphasizes the essentials, including fine-motor skills needed for writing, art, and daily living tasks. If necessary, these skills can be accomplished with hand-over-hand instruction. In Level B, the child also learns essential manners. Through books, activities, and crafts designed to help teach the sounds of letters, the child gains the essential ear training necessary for learning to read.

Simply Classical Curriculum: Level A

Level A provides an introduction to wonder, books, and language. Intended for children ages 2-3 or special-needs children at an introductory level, this program offers daily lessons designed to teach beginning readiness abilities in the rich context of beauty, stories, and prayer. Level A emphasizes oral language through such enjoyable readiness concepts as animals sounds, counting books, and nursery rhymes.
